Al Jolson's experience with radio began in the dawn of the medium, and continued until the birth of television, and his death. He started the Kraft Music Hall, along with programs for Lifebuoy Soap, Colgate T ooth Powder, and Chevrolet, and died while waiting to go on to Bing Crosby's Chesterfield program. Here is another full length radio program for your enjoyment.

Al Jolson was just finishing his first season of the Kraft Music Hall, and was at the top of his game, when he made this appearance on Eddie Cantor's Pabst Blue Ribbon program. It is of note that he had been on Eddie's show some seven years before, and noted Eddie and Ida's wedding anniversary then, and he repeated the celebration on this program.

The show opens with Eddie Cantor singing "Toolie Oolie Doodle," subtitled "The Yodel Polka"! After the song, a comedy routine followed to announce a switch of Eddie Cantor's program to Tuesday nights for the next two weeks.

Regular Bert Gordon, the "Mad Russian," was up next with his ideas for the program. Eddie then turned to his mail, for a letter from his sponsor, pointing out what he could do with the two extra days until the broadcast. Other mail jokes followed as well.

Guest Michael Redgrave joined the show and was involved in a bit to work out a real estate deal. The writing is involved, and the jokes abound, in this comedy routine which even spans another commercial.

Following this bit, Al Jolson came on, greeted by extended applause, to congratulate Eddie and Ida on their wedding anniversary. Of course, he sang the "Anniversary Song" to celebrate. The lyrics in this rendition, though, are a bit different than other performances of the day!

Thanking Al, Eddie signed off with his closing theme, adjusted for the day of the week, after a great half hour of radio comedy.
